5 Books

I don’t know if I picked it up on a road trip or what, but somewhere along the line, I came up with a great question to ask someone to get a little insight as to how they think, and what they value. Actually you can ask it one of two ways…#1: If you were going to prison for five years and you were allowed to bring any five books with you, what would you bring? Or, #2: If you were stuck alone on a deserted island indefinitely, what five books would you want to bring? A possible follow up is what five cds (given you have a solar powered stereo) would you bring along. I’ll give you my choices if I get five people to comment with theirs first.

Obvious #1 answer is the Bible. Possiblities for the other 5 on a desert island:
2. Stalking the Wild Asparagus
3. National Outdoor Leadership School's Wilderness Guide
4. SAS Survival Handbook: How to Survive in the Wild, in Any Climate, on Land or at Sea
5. A big hymnal
Family Photo Album might replace #3 or #4

This would be hard for me, b/c I don't like to read. The smartest thing to take would be the Bible and I can't even pretend to come up with 4 other book. But I don't plan to be in prison or on an island by myself. Chances are, I wouldn't make it!

* Bible
* Shakespeare Collection
* Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
* Chronicles of Narnia (is that cheating?)
* American Anthology of Poetry (or somesuch)

I'm not even going to attempt to narrow it down to five albums. Alright, let's hear yours, John.

Aunt Linda and I are still thinking - maybe we're getting way too serious about this.....
I have never gone anywhere in my life with only 5 CDs..... we both are going to repond....we are talking back and forth to each other about it - but decision making can be difficult, you know?

WE actually are going to respond rather than re-pond -man I hate mis-spelling something your mother is going to read....know what I mean????

Ok, ok!! Due to all the public pressure to respond/re-pond:
1. The Bible ( details on how to build an ARC to sail away from the island) 2. Mickey Mouse coloring book. 3. Minnie Mouse coloring bok. 4. Roy Rogers coloring book. 5. Boy Scout manual ( it will tell me how to make crayons out of native materials)

OK - I WOULD LIKELY (IF I KNEW I WAS GOING TO BE STUCK SOMEWHERE - MAKE MY OWN CD'S OF ALL THE MUSIC I LOVE CRAMMED ON 5 CDS) BUT OTHERWISE,

I THINK I WOULD HAVE:
1) THE ENTIRE BIBLE ON CD
2) THE COMPLETE WORKS OF ERIC CLAPTON
3) THE ESSENTIAL WILLIE NELSON
4) THE COMPLETE WORKS OF BILLY JOE SHAVER
5) BARBARA STREISAND CD (MEMORIES)

From Aunt Linda: Okay, I guess my e-mail to you didn't post my selections. Yes, Kat and I took this WAY too seriously, but here's my books and CD's.
The Bible, Eng. & Spanish version
7 Habits of Highly Effective People
La Vida con Proposito by Rick Warren
Wolfe's You Can't Go Home Again and
Hemingway's A Moveable Feast.
CD's
Phases & Stages: Willie Nelson
Eagles Greatest Hits

Il Divo Encore and
Kat's Workout Tape #1
How boring I've become. But next year (post retirement) the REAL Linda will return. Love, LM
