Fuel Tanks

Rick and Diane are here for a visit from Ohio and I’m finally getting a little bit caught up. I shot in Branson twice this week and the heat was really intense, that kind of intense heat that makes you sleepy in a dangerous way, like being in a sauna in northern Minnesota just a bit too long. So we dropped by Bass Pro and fought the crowd and we checked out some $16,000.00 shotguns. I didn’t buy many. The photo above is three fuel tankers. This is actually my 3rd attempt to capture it just right over the course of 3 or 4 years. I still think I want to try it again a little different

They shoot canoes...

...now I understand why. We went camping with our Church group this weekend and we brought the kids aboard. It was a little hot for camping, and the water was a little low for floating, and the current was a little non-existant, and Alec was a little less than chipper, but we still had a blast. Harold and Freida took some pictures that they graciously gave me so now you can see the beauty that is: The Buffalo River just outside of Yellville, Arkansas (infamous hometown of Justin Florio).

Cody

Just so you know, you can now go back to the old posts in case you want to. For awhile now you couldn’t go back and see stuff that was too long ago like this post but now you can. Yay.

Jenny and Adam

I've had the pleasure of meeting Jenny and Adam who are planning their wedding the smart way.....early. They are a terrific couple and I know their wedding will be a lot of fun! You will hear more about these two down the road...

Signs

Some of you may have noticed that I like signs. I think it's really funny to see signs out of their context and maybe in a totally different context or juxtapositioned by something else that changes the meaning. I know it's kind of silly but it cracks me up.

Exotic Animal Paradise

Last week we went to feed some water buffalo, elk, deer, donkeys, zebras, camels, ostriches, longhorns, bison, sebu, gazelle, emus, and other critters. If you get a chance to go, go soon…they are closing for good Oct 1…golf is more popular than fat lazy deer around here.

Mr. and Mrs.

Congratulations Casey and Marquita! Your wedding was very cool....even though it was a scortcher!

Tigerlilly

I think this is a tigerlilly...anyway, it's one of the cool flowers that we inherited without doing any of the work when we bought the house. The light was hitting this one just right this morning and I had to snap this shot.

Redheads

I took this shot the other day and I thought it was neat how the pump and little Nathan's hair are the same color. It's one of those shots that's not technically perfect but I keep going back to it and looking at it. Anyway, I thought I'd share it. It just needs a good caption....any ideas?

My buddy Adam is going to be sad today, his sweetie-pie Jillian is out of town again. (They're both crazy, but good crazy).

Look at that hair

We saw the fireworks last night and had a great time and the kids really loved it. It's been a good week having Pam and Kari around. Today I shot a wedding at Chateu on the Lake with Preston and it was wonderful. Sunset wedding under the giant tent with the lake as a backdrop....what more could you want in the Ozarks? The other day we were in Branson at the outlet mall and Alec put a Buzz Lightyear toy phone in his pocket while we were in the store...I noticed at the gas station and I had a big talk about how we don't just take things and I was thinking, "Maybe he's understanding this..." and then after all that I noticed a bulge in his other pocket...the little criminal had stolen 2 phones, not just one. When we returned them and he said "sorry" in his softest voice he cried and didn't understand why the store people had "taken his toy". So I launched into a big speach about free trade and macroeconomics and how their is a butterfly effect from the act of stealing just one item that ends up hurting shareholders returns...so there really isn't such a thing as a free lunch. I'm pretty sure he understands now. What does he care, his Grandma bought him a Tommy shirt.

Pam & Kari

My Mother-in-law and Sister-in-law are in town and they've brought some much needed house energy. We've hit a wall a few months ago as far as painting goes so it's nice to have some serious help.

Big Spider

The other day I took the kids hiking and we stumbled upon this guy. Actually I think I tripped over it...I'm not used to big spiders like that....Anyway, today was Krista and Preston's wedding but I'll talk about it tomorrow....I'm am completely wore out! Posted by Picasa

Last Sunset

This is the last sunset Preston and Krista will see as single people. These guys are so cool, I can't even tell you. Preston reminds me a lot of my best friend in high school, Leon, and Krista reminds me of somebody but I haven't figured out who yet. But anyway, I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's wedding and I'm sure the pictures are gonna be really special.

I work too hard

Sometimes I think I should have stayed at the flight kitchen making airline salads at 3:30 am. Look at what's become of me...

Workin w Preston

Another fun filled day shootin with Preston. After that we went downtown and saw the processed snow at the Jordan Valley thing. Good times, a little busy or I'd tell you more of the exciting stuff like how I didn't realize the large at Cold Stone Ice Cream is like 1/3 in the cup and 2/3 hanging over the edge totally like a 1/2 gallon or something. I think everybody was staring and shaking their heads, thinking, "that's no way to loose the weight there Husky". I didn't eat it all...yet. Or if I had time I'd tell you about how Alec drank like 20 oz of Sprite and pee'd and pee'd and how he dropped trow at the Pizza place and almost violated exposure laws. I wish I had time to tell you about how we watched Heidi and I kept thinking, "This is the most depressing movie I've ever seen...what kind of crack was Disney smoking when they put this garbage out?" I mean seriously, 2 hours of a horrible life of tragedy and nobody really wanting or caring about the little orphan, and then 2 seconds at the end where the Grandfather decides he'll let her live with her....what a horrible flick!! I thought it was supposed to be a happy kid thing.

But it does kind of make me want to herd goats.

Preston & Krista

Also yesterday, I had the pleasure of getting some incredible shots of Preston & Krista who will be married in just a few weeks! I was still a little woozy from all the dust inhalation (see last post) but they didn't make TOO MUCH fun of me. Anyway, I got some really great stuff and they are such a fun couple I'm thrilled to be their photographer, I'll put the rest of the pictures up soon so check back in a couple days for a link to their gallery.

Floor Work Part II (With A Vengence)

So yesterday was payback! Dad came up and we showed that my studio floor we were serious and in the end we won! I think... Well, we inhaled so much sealant and grout dust that the floor may actually have the last laugh. You wouldn't believe how much dust we kicked up but I'm absolutley ecstatic already about the new floor (the old subfloor) which is lower so it's better for shooting into.
The floor was sagging pretty bad and the tile was cracking and getting worse so we had to take it out. The wood under the wet-wall (old kitchen sink and the bathroom shower & sink are on that wall) was all rotted out so I think we'll be taking out that whole wall next and re-walling the bathroom without the shower. Don't worry, we have a shower at the house. And I don't ever sweat...not like Dad anyway...phew!

Mr. & Mrs. James Kinney

You may remember her as Shannon Dokes...
