My family doesn't care that I probably have the Coronavirus

If you like me you might have some very serious symptoms of the Coronavirus you also may have family who roll their eyes when you express your concerns that you could be really sick and infecting others and maybe should be hospitalized and get a time slot for a ventilator before they're all used up. even now my daughter and my wife are laughing uncontrollably at my concern for my own health I'm afraid my daughter May choke on a banana as we speak she's laughing so hard at the thought of me having coronavirus for some reason. Friends, in this time I think it's important chisme...... sorry there was a cough there....a dry cough not a cold cough but a dry cough as described on the many many "do I have coronavirus symptoms" websites.  Also this post may not make total sense because I feel feverish but when I ask my wife to check my temperature she puts her cheek up to my forehead and says "you're fine, you're fine quit wishing you had the day off" and when I expressed my shortness of breath to my son he says "yeah you're overweight what do you expect maybe you shouldn't eat so much fatty chips, Fatty".  In conclusion it's been a pretty good run I've had a good life and a lot of other people are dying during this period of time might as well do it with your family laughing at you.

Easter Sunday!

Easter Sunday!
Awesome fun day!
Praise the Son day!
Easter Sunday!
Avery came home around 3:30 am from her spring break trip,
Yesterday’s Rocky Patel is still coating my lip,
Erin got up at 6:00 to work on a roast,
I can’t decide between a bagel or toast.
Easter Sunday!
Awesome fun day!
Praise the Son day!
Easter Sunday!
Alec was supposed to go to bed early last night,
His lack of sleep yesterday was cause for the fight,
He agreed to go down early to try and atone,
But at midnight, there he was, talking on the phone.
Easter Sunday!
Awesome fun day!
Praise the Son day!
Easter Sunday!
Pam is supposed to meet us at church and then have lunch,
There may be some drama, but that’s just a hunch,
Chinese space station is going to descend today,
The angels said Jesus “...will come back in the same way…”
Easter Sunday!
Awesome fun day!
Praise the Son day!
Easter Sunday!

Vision

Yesterday at Richard's church (actually, it's Jesus's, but it's the group Richard meets with) the class was doing a hermeneutics study on "vision" and"perish" as used in Proverbs 29:18.

Where there is no revelation(vision), people (perish)cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.

Great class, I learned a bunch!
Then Avery and I headed up to Harding...a place I haven't been to in twenty years.  It's was odd and yet nice to be back.  Much has indeed changed but for the most part, it felt the same.  After a few hours I was wanting to get off campus and do something, just like I used to feel every day I was there.  There's so much energy and yet....
Avery will do well there if that's the route she chooses as she is not me in the ways that would make her frustrated with Harding.  It's a fantastic place if it fits you.
Bumped into some Cincinnati peeps too.  Today I leave the Burtons and after the big scholarship interview, it's nine hours back to Cincinnati.  Should be a good day!

Drove to Paducah,
I love a good haiku-ah,
And rhyming too-ah.
Ave and I had great conversation on the drive down here, I didn't realize how much she picks up on and all the little things she remembers from when she was small that I thought she didn't.  She's fun to hang out with and I'm going to really miss her this fall.
Al and his friends are weird and they eat constantly but they are great to have around, especially without having Midwestern boys constantly around anymore.  It's srange but nice to be a more normal family for a bit.

Digital Dust

There was a time, before facebook was big, when I would record my thoughts and images and poetry on this blog.  Now it feels like visiting an old school or a closed down factory that I used to work at.  It seems like a lifetime away.  There are great advantages to FB and Instagram but there is a big disadvantage too.  With a blog, you are writing for yourself, it’s your diary, your personal log.  Sure some people will look and comment and say “that’s nifty” or whatever but the purpose of a blog, for me, is for me.
I look back at the old posts and it’s incredibly interesting to me…I doubt it’s possible to be as interesting to others.  Now I find myself missing that candid expression that blogging used to provide.  Facebook is too public.  I have 814 friends on Facebook and I don’t for a minute believe I actually know them all.  Some are old acquaintances that I never bothered to DE-FRIEND.
I find myself feeling less and less free to express what I want on such a massively auto-broadcasted forum.  I speak a certain way to the kids that I’ve helped get through abusive childhoods, and a different way to the buddies that I went to college or high school with.  My tone and vocabulary is different if I’m speaking with my in-laws compared to an old co-worker.
So I think I just might go ahead and blow some of the digital dust off of this outdated blog and see what I might have to say these days…to me.
