Soft Lighting and Wild Dancing

Ashley Buford came by for her studio session (we had to put it off until her leg cast came off) and anyway, we got some really great images. I could tell she was more relaxed this time for whatever reason and we got to do some really fun creative stuff. I’m so excited having a studio next to the house where I can really have fun and walk home for dinner five minutes later! Ashley is some kind of math wizard and she used to be miss all-sports until her leg did something. This is one of the fun impossible angle shots we did yesterday.

After that we had a Survivor get together with Jen (Nate's out of town for 3 months) and the Brices (they just come over and we can't get them to leave, just kidding). And then we had a little kid dance competitition with 3 two year old boys, 2 infants and one GrandMasterFunkaDelicAvery 6 year old. Of course I was too busy doing the Roger Rabbit to grab a camera. Keegan got first prize for his funky moves.

Snow Saturday

Today we cleaned and cleaned. It finally snowed a few inches last night so the kids and I got all bundled up and went outside to play and came back inside in like 2 minutes. Alec toke off his gloves and grabbed the snow and looked at me like “Did you know this stuff is so cold?” but he said, “Wanna go home! S’Cold!” Even though we were in the backyard. Then we warmed up, had cocoa and went out again and we were out for like 10 minutes this time and then Alec fell on the ice and smacked flat on his back.
So, we spent the rest of the day inside around the fire, playing with matchbox cars and eating some incredible chicken and dumplins Erin cooked up.
I think we’re about to take some of the photos down from the fridge and for some reason I snapped a shot of it.

Fun Frigid Friday

It felt like it was 80 yesterday and then this cold front came in and it's supposed to be 10 tonight. It's like Montana or something. We'll all be sick by Saturday morning I bet.
I'm excited about the studio and my new wedding albums and a bunch of stuff. As of right now, I'm planning on having an open house here the studio on March 19th. I hope I can have it ready by then but if you're reading this, you're invited to stop by that afternoon.
Avery is sitting on my lap right now and Alec is tearing up the props. Avery's school is out today and Erin had to work so I've got the little helpers to myself. We're gonna try and get the oil changed in Erin's Blazer and fix the side mirror she knocked out yesterday when she blazed out of the garage and snapped it off. And then....if we can....if there's time before gymnastics....we're gonna check out the Art Museum. Avery loves that stuff and Alec hasn't been since he's been an infant.

Full Sunday

Avery and Alec and I built a fort in Avery’s room yesterday but then…. Avery had a fever. She really didn’t like her medicine.
Anyway, after church she was feeling better and we went over to Gerrie Hartwigsen’s for lunch with Mark and Michelle Prewitt. They have 3 sweet little girls and Avery had a ball with them while Alec played with blocks and I think it might have been…..an “erector set”….or maybe I just wanted to put that in my blog. I think the “erector set” is actually all metal parts or maybe it’s just Swedish made or something. Anyway, it was a lot of fun and then we had a little youth meeting where we formed teams to head up one event each. One team of families for each season so that there will always be at least 4 events for Brookline’s kids per year. It’s a good start I think.

Sweet Kiddos

Avery made us a valentie today and Alec watched "Lazy Town" on the coach this morning and it snowed big fat flakes. It was a nice cozy kinda day.

No Kids Friday

Still sleep recovering...

We wen't out with the Shaws and Brices and Burchams and all got sitters and then played poker back at Mike and Jills. It was fun not having to be the reponsible parent for a few hours. Oh wait, I guess I've never been the responsible parent. Hmmm.

Gary Fong

So it must have been the first day of winter because we finally got snow. We’ve had some this season I’m sure but I don’t remember when. Alec and I played outside for a while and then we took a walk and he got upset because I was eating the snowflakes as they dropped….I think he thought I’d eat them all or something. That’s how it usually works with ice cream in our house.
Yesterday I went up to St. Louis to see Gary Fong speak and I picked up Preston Dial and Leslie from Connie’s Portraits in Marshfield and get this….none of us brought a camera. I didn’t know how crowded the little Cavalier would be and we thought we were talking Kimber too but anyway…the snow was on the treetops and the sun was kissing it and the sky was crazy dark and it was like that almost the whole way. We’re talking some great images burned not on film but only in my mind. Oh well.
Gary gave an awesome presentation and we pulled out of St. Louis around 11:30. I dropped off Preston at 3:00 and got up at 6:30. At some point I’m gonna crash and whine about being so tired but right now I’m all pumped up from seeing new things and hearing new ideas and….you know. Good stuff!
